Yep--I sent my brood out for a tree as well. Unfortunately, living in the desert with few trees, they returned sometime later with an 8' Sonora Cactus. Watered that sucker for 5 days before it finally quit sucking up the moisture.
Spent 3 days after decorating it getting spines out of my hands and arms. Oh--if only I could find an excuse for not celebrating Christmas.

More Statistics - Even more to die at Armageddon!
by eyeslice init comes up time and again in the wts literature and meetings just how jehovah is patient and loving by allowing this system to go on, thus allowing more people to be saved.. but, the figures dont add up.. i know that witnesses dont really believe that baptism is being born again, but on the other hand, it is implied that those who are not baptized are in danger at armageddon.
this was brought out at this years dc, where young ones were urged to "seriously consider getting baptized".. .
i am aware that figures can be made to say anything but in the table below, i have attempted to look at the difference between physical births and "spiritual" births, i.e.

Here's something I've always chewed on when someone tells me that God doesn't want any of us to die.
World population 12-31-1991=approx 5,376,000,000. World population today= approx 6,300,000,000.
http://http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop/
Number of JWs in 1991=approx 4 million. Number today=approx 6 million
http://http://www.jwic.com/stat.htm
So, this delay in Armageddon has resulted in a net increase of an additional 900,000,000 non-JW souls believed to be reserved for death at the great battle vs. 2 million additional potential survivors.

Pom,
On "the Court..." album there was a different lineup that included Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake, And Palmer fame providing lead vocals. Pete Sinfield was also involved w/early KC.
Something else I noticed; on a recent "Behind the Music" (VH-1) about Pink Floyd, they showed a picture of Sid Barrett (when discussing his insanity) that was identical to the front cover artwork on "The Court" album. Unsure if that's where the artist got his idea, though.

Sudden Rash of JW Apologists
by NeonMadman inam i the only one who sees it as a bit odd that a large number of jw apologists has suddenly come out of the woodwork on this board to defend the actions of the watchtower society toward bill bowen, barbara anderson and the pandelos?
for the longest time, virtually the only ones on this board who advocated an essentially orthodox jw viewpoint were you know and nytelecom/mavman (though each of them could easily be classed with us "apostates" if the watchtower knew of their disagreements with the party line).. but suddenly, we have a bunch of totally loyal, utterly doctrinaire jw apologists posting almost exclusively on threads related to the pedophile issue.
most of them are taking next to impossible positions from any reasonable standpoint.

My apologies, S4. Newbie jitters, I guess. The word 'here' set me off as referring to this particular thread.

Seeker4,
Have noticed these attacks on Bill and company. And I think there may be a JW apologist or two here, as well.
Having perused the list of posters til this point, an 'apologist' might be assigned to 'amac' who has identified his/herself as JW, although I don't think of 'amac' as an apologist.Your phrase 'or two' seems to point to me since the other posters are well-established. Sorry if my 'newbie' status set off an alarm for you.
Strange how when I was in the org, I was challenged as being 'apostate' by 'elders'. Now that I'm out, I'm being challenged by an ex-'elder' as being an apologist. Wonderful!!!
Thought here would be a safe haven from this type of BS.
I'm sorry. I apologize. Please forgive me. My mistake......
Apologetic enough for you?

CARROT, EGG, OR COFFEE BEAN
by Billygoat ini usually delete these type of emails, but thought it was an interesting analogy and i thought i'd share.... .
a young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her.
she did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up.

When I was young and angry and full of hurt, I was the water; always doing things to change/damage others.
Finally, I encountered my 'coffee bean' who patiently and gently changed me.

If the posts that others make go unanswered, might that not encourage them to post elsewhere that their challenges/statements/whatever went unanswered here and encourage others to appear and post more BS?
Would it not be better to wade thru the BS and continue to respond?

I am in agreement w/Yerasalyim's and ChristianObserver's statements quoted below:
How did Jesus teach us to pray? Was it "Jehovah, who is in heaven..." or did he say "Our FATHER, who is in heaven..."
In considering the beginning of the Lord's prayer, 'Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name', why is the actual name of God omitted? If Jesus had used that name, wouldn't it have been preserved in the oral tradition of the Lord's prayer if not in the texts? Wasn't this an ideal opportunity for the name of God to be 'called upon'?
Each time that Christ prayed or his conversation was directed toward God in the 4 gospels, he always used Father. At his execution, it was 'Eli, Eli...', and finally at John 20:17-- 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father and my God and your God.' -

Some Musings
by Farkel ini sent it to kent.

Enjoyed the post, Farkel, and the glimpse into your life.
It has been the posts from you, 'Amazing', 'JT', 'AlanF', and a few others that finally motivated me to migrate from 'lurker' to 'newbie' status during the past year here.
Thanks to you all for your insight and intelligence.
